If people were allowed to grow their own at home the cost could be about $2.00 per ounce. When the Government controls and taxes it they’ll take your property via tax evasion laws that carry a $100,000 fine and 5 years in prison.
lies lies lies… LEGALIZE IT TODAY. Misinformed americans really dont know. Listen to them in the video 150$ an oz, 30% percent THC lol… sounds like they are living in some kind of marijuana fantasy world to me. Medical goes 220-360 an ounce and Marijuana rarely exceeds 22%. If it was grown taxed and regulated those old schools out there could once again have their low thc level if they want 7% or so. Personally i would rather smoke more potent mj so i dont have to enhale as much smoke?owell
Introduce [pot] to our communities? It’s already here. Cigarette use is at the lowest recorded levels and no one had to go to jail to do it. It’s all about education.
Either we spend billions in law enforcement putting people in jail that do no harm to society, or we receive billions in tax revenue from a harmless plant. Either we keep letting innocent people be killed every day from ruthless drug lords, or we tax®ulate the drug and clean up the blood money.
The people of California will speak come November.
when that person said ‘do we need to introduce another addictive substance, another dependency driven substance’ he should think about all da pharmaceuticals dat been introduced today, dats wat is fucking up da people, cannabis was already introduced long before pharmaceuticals, it was medicine for 5000 years, except for these past 70 years? wat bullshit!
He’s right- drug cartels are very involved in the marijuana market. Marijuana makes up over 70% of drug cartel profits, but we have the power to cripple them by taking all of that 70%.
The notion that Gov’t resources would be used to protect marijuana users and legal marijuana selling establishments, is far-fetched. If anything, these entities would use the rise in violence and property crimes to debunk the theory that allowing this reform costs society less while propegating just personal freedom. Lets not forget “The War on Drug” has never been about eliminating the dealers or exposing criminals – its been about making a contriband product more valuable on the black market.
@MrPolysyllabic I would say that the massive amounts of money that have been used in the past to fight the ‘war on drugs’ could then be used to fight pissed off ex-drug dealers/smugglers who might want to fight to keep their business. In addition law enforcement might be able to use the new tax money from legal marijuana to fight those people. This would be such a positive change for this world, if done correctly…
They argue that no one will pay a $50 ounce tax and that the black market would prevail. I would gladly pay that to buy from a professional shop and smoke the type of marijuana I want with no fear of pesticides or worse yet weed laced with PCP, meth or heroin.
How can he really think that the war on drugs is a battle they are winning? Please take action if you live in California and write to your representatives on the issue for legalizing marijuana. It is a harmless plant when used recreationally causes no harm to others assuming you are an adult. Take money out of the drug cartels hands and tax it to bring in state revenue. Please be proactive and let your voice be heard.
Well, when the ballot is passed by voters – it will then be up to citizens to hold not only the Gov’t accountable but to hold the illegal drug traffickers accountable too. Don’t think that these smugglers/dealers will go quietly, they will need to be exposed/fought-off/exterminated. Everyone who pumped up the legalization movement to get to the point of victory will share the burden of fighting these illegal traffickers and keeping the new system and the people safe from harm.
it’s so sad how mis-informed these police chiefs and law enforment people are. Calling weed a dependency drivin substance, trying to say that somehow, higher THC % per (amount of weed) is a bad thing. It’s almost a laugh but it’s really a cry.
