Not up on the shiff ordeal but in his case i dont think he “plead insanity” It had to do with being a “delusional disorder” claim from the Government.Two different things. But forced down the same path. I will have to admit that his efforts did not work, of course.
I have a masters degree in history and have studied for about 20 years also. The Federal Reserve took over the government in 1913 through taking control of the nation’s money and credit. It is a privately owned central bank that determines the price of your car, your home and whether you have a job or not. The Fed’s member banks profit from war and military buildup. We need individuals with spines to stand up to these people, not statists who cowher.

Every Legislator in every State, every person on their staff, every bureaucrat in every Legislature, every person in Congress, all of their staffs and all of those bureaucrats….
The Seventh Circuit noted that the information compiled in The Law That Never Was has been known since 1913, and the court found that it presented no grounds for invalidating the Sixteenth Amendment. U.S. v Thomas, 788 F.2d at 1253.
@RetSquid WRONG. Wm BENSON proved in a 2 vol. book, “The Law that NEVER WAS”, that with certified documents from each of the states in 1913, that inFACT the Amendment was NOT appoved. If you haven’t read it and seen the certified documents, KEEP your Mug shut. Your ignorant.
The Founding Fathers were against interventions because we were so weak at the time. They were never isolationists. Isolationism, in part, led to WWII. Ron Paul is not where the people want to go, no third party candidate has ever come close to winning a National election.

Strong national defense, noninterventionism. Yet here we are taking over the world, or at least the gov. is.

@RetSquid – Yes, we have allowed this to go on for far too long. The taxes we are supposed to pay are for 3 things only. To provide national defense, pay debts, and promote general welfare, that’s all. Taxes for any other reasons are illegal. But those things are not supposed to be paid for by Income tax. The money you earn from your labor is your private property, and for the government to take it is stealing.
Well, the People have gone along with those Congressmen for almost 100 years. Everyone hates taxes, but they also know that they are needed to pay for Government operations. (If you are going to bring up the Grace report, read it first.)

I’m reading a book right now by his son, Peter, published in 2010 and it says that he is in federal prison, right now, at age 82.
