http://findlaw.com lets you indicate the general area of your legal issue and your location, by city or zipcode, then produces a list of attorneys. There’s also an option to submit your legal issue and location plus contact information, and any attorney interested in the case will get in touch with you. There’s no guarantee any will be interested, of course.
http://www.martindale.com/ is also a site for finding attorneys where you are located who handle your type of case. It purportedly rates the attorneys, too. However, within the legal community the ratings are considered more an indicator of hourly fee than of competence. The real expensive lawyer is not necessarily any better than another on something that’s routine, as your living trust is. Any attorney who’s been rated at all, even not very highly, should represent you well. Those who are unrated may lack experience.

I agree with Maryn. But at the Marindale website, they will list attys by specialty. You don’t necessarily need a board certified one, but someone who lists their specialty as wills, estates, trusts will do.
Then ask them for references from previous clients. They’ll only give you the ones they know will give good references, but you can mine them with questions about how quickly they responded to phone calls, etc.

legalzoom.com in LA, California is a good website. Don’t pay a huge sum unless your estate is huge. I got one for $800 but this website would have done it a lot less. They are not that complicated, and legal terms are legal terms. Some attorneys charge more just because they can get it. You can find out via computer if lawyer is reputable by calling a lawyer’s office and asking for the number to call for such information. If you find a local lawyer, check him out with your local BBB. But a website is as good as any. Legalzoom.com. Check out Bill Handel at 640.com; he is a local lawyer on a local radio station (640)
