How do I make sure my attorney is doing the right things regarding my case?
After winning my personal damage box in court, we waited a year for a profession to discuss it me there is no money. How can we check as well as see if all this is true? The defendents went bankrupt.
Your claim would have been stayed by the bankruptcy action and the court would have ruled. I’d start by checking with the bankruptcy court to make sure you were listed as a creditor.
Most Attorneys are over booked and only pay attention to the squeaky wheel. Have you ever been able to talk to your Lawyer directly when you’ve called them? There are so many Lawyers who make a killing and then coast until it’s time to go to court and then they say they need more money to finish your case and send you a bogus itemized bill to legitimate their claim. There are a select few who actually take you seriously.
how do you know your attorney didn’t keep the money??
i smell a rat here. don’t let go of this. i bet there was money, because usually it is an insurance company that pays the claim. not the person who injured you. can you please add more info. car accident, slip n fall…??
sounds like you are saying the insurance company went BK..

You can contact the bankruptcy court – bankruptcy filings are public records.
However, if there’s no money, then your attorney doesn’t get paid either, so he also has a strong motivation to be sure that he’s right.
