You let this go far too long without working with the IRS and are now paying the consequences. The IRS contacted you repeatedly about your debt but you failed to work out a payment plan. Then they tried to get information on your expenses and obligations so that the wage attachment would leave you enough to survive on but you refused to cooperate.
The IRS doesn’t just jump in and attach your wages without warning. They give you plenty of time to contest the debt in the first place as well as time to work out a satisfactory payment plan. You pretty much have to ignore them completely before they’ll slap a wage attachment on your paycheck or seize your bank accounts, etc.
At this point you have 2 things that you can do. Gather up those notices that you ignored and contact the agent handling your case. See what, if anything, they will do to work with you. The second thing to do is go get a second job so that you’ll have enough money to survive on.
You could also try contacting the Taxpayer Advocate though if you’ve been ignoring IRS requests to work out a payment plan there may not be a heck of a lot that the Advocate’s office can do for you now.

You are now suffering the consequences of not dealing with the problem before it got to this point. The Notice of Levy on Wages Salary and Other Income will have a phone number of a contact on it. That is who you should call.
